i now have to SPECIFY on EACH INDIVIDUAL ARTWORK that i don't want it stolen and used in AI shit? fix this or i'm deactivating all my accounts. not using my art is part of the basic copyright, i shouldn't have to specify that for this one thing, and i certainly shouldn't have to do it piece by piece. at the VERY least there should be a gallery-wide option, and you should have to opt IN to having your art used, not out. this is outrageous.

i've been a member for over a decade (through two accounts. this is my second.) but i can't afford to leave my art up on here if i'm being forced into a contract to have my work used and sold against my will.

REPOSTING; it is not okay to repost an artist's work without getting permission from them first. every image you see was made by a person- the internet doesn't just auto-generate anime fanart. artists spend YEARS of hard work and study learning how to draw, and it takes a great deal of time, effort, and emotional energy to produce each piece on top of all that learning. we have no obligation to let you view our work for free at all- many now resort to paywalls like patreon because of how prevalent art theft is these days- and just because we ARE letting you view it does NOT mean we are also letting you download it, modify it, trace it, or repost it. reposting is STEALING. it is NOT okay. and if that isn't enough to you, most original posts get shoved into the last page of results because the reposts wind up doing better. the artist never finds out people liked it, and stop making things similar to it because they aren't given a reason to continue. SHARE ORIGINAL LINKS ONLY. DO NOT DOWNLOAD AND REUPLOAD (REPOST).

BUT EXPOSURE; it ain't exposure if you're not linking back to the original artist. the point of exposure is getting the ARTIST more attention, and thus more BUSINESS (commissions). if there's no link for people to find them through, then the only person getting attention is the thief who reposted the art.

CREDIT; saying 'i didn't draw this', 'credit to whoever drew this' or linking to another repost of the art is NOT credit. CREDIT is linking to the ARTIST'S original upload, and mentioning their username and whatever site they main. weheartit, pinterest, and wattpad are hotbeds of theft- there's a 99.9% chance anything posted there is also stolen, NOT the original upload. the point of credit is so that viewer's can then reach out to and give the artist the appreciation they deserve for making and sharing the work. without credit, they get nothing except the hurt from having their work go unappreciated while some stranger (you) who had no hand in creating it at all gets all the attention and praise instead. shit like that really kills our drive to share our work with y'all.

BUT I DUNNO; if you don't know who made something, you can usually find out by asking around or using reverse image searches such as tineye, saucenao, yandex, or google. always check multiple, since they don't all comb the same sites. saucenao for example can find stuff on furaffinity and pixiv, but yandex won't. tineye can find stuff on tumblr that google can't, but not if the original post was taken down, while yandex combs tumblr-adjacent sites like tumblx to find reblogs. if you cannot find the original artist to ask for permission, you shouldn't repost it at all, but at the VERY least you should be SCREAMING in the description that you are not the artist, tried your best to find them, and would someone please let you know if they know. and if the artist finds YOU and tells you to take it down? DO IT. IMMEDIATELY. it does not belong to you, you have no right to argue.

well, i loved artfight too much and couldn't let it go this year, so i've made a discord server that operates in much the same way. not familiar with artfight? no worries, keep reading!

Art Battle Royale is a discord server where you can draw for others, and be drawn for, without having to contact each person privately and discuss details. people can set permissions and you should respect them, but overall, artistic freedom reigns.

everyone posts a 'profile' with examples of their art, and links to their characters, and then you can 'attack' other users by drawing their characters, and receive points for doing so! it is highly encouraged to 'revenge', or draw back for, all the art you receive, but the only penalty for not doing so is that other folks will be able to see your 'battle ratio' and may not draw for you if it's low. so no pressure!

you can use this link to join; >>> https://discord.gg/m4tYAcH <<< (you can also join just to spectate and discuss art if you aren't an artist yourself)
